Settings

  • Host List. Links to a page that lists the hosts, which are links to settings for each host.

  • Delay between pings (mSec). This should not be too short because it is normal for a ping response to be delayed, and host status should change relatively infrequently. If it is too long the App will be slow to know when host status changes.

  • Longest wait for ping response (mSec). A sleeping host does not respond to a ping, but a running host's response to a ping can be delayed by tens of milliseconds. A non-response inside of this window is considered a non-responding host.

  • Suspend ping when in background after this many minutes (zero means never). This App is not intended for long term monitoring of host responsiveness, but a WOL can take a minute to complete and you may do something else on your device while you are waiting for host awake confirmation. After the number of minutes in the background specified here the App stops pinging but will restart pinging it it is brought into the foreground.

  • Ping even without WiFi. Normally WOL packets are broadcast on the local subnet and so WiFi is normally needed. If you have a weak signal you can lose WiFi for short intervals and host non-response at these times do not reflect on the host state. By not pinging when WiFi is unavailable you avoid getting false detections of alive / dead transitions. This setting should be false, unless for some reason WiFi is not needed in your case for subnet WOL / pinging.
